It’s important that every community member feels welcomed whether it’s in classroom, workplaces or other shared space.
I’m working on my inclusive strengths right now by practicing ASL for my students with hearing-based learning barriers. I believe that this form of communication benefits students with hearing as well since the classroom can often be loud places. Finding ways to gather attention that doesn’t require me to be the loudest voice is a strength that benefits everyone.
I aim to improve my workplace by offering assistance and being open about asking for help. By modelling that I am comfortable asking for assistance (in truth I NEED to ask for assistance) my hope is that others will be open about their needs aswell.
