“Educators demonstrate a broad knowledge base and an understanding of areas they teach”
I’m lucky to have spent an unfortunate amount of time in university. Since the end of grade twelve I’ve participated in over twelve years of university full time classes. I have a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and Molecular biology, as well as a master’s degree in environmental sciences. Above that, I’ve heard over a month’s worth of titles on Audible, including Great Courses on Philosophy, Literature, Science in addition to some great fiction writers such as Ted Chiang, and Octavia Butler. Students benefit from teacher’s who know their domain, but teachers do better when they are able to make connections across fields. Listening to new music, watching new cinema and participating in modern dialogues is a great way to form connections with the class.
